For 120 years, NYU Steinhardt has prepared the next generation of
leaders, practitioners, and researchers in applied psychology,
education, health, media, and the visual and performing arts
professions. Today, Steinhardt offers over 60 graduate and 20
undergraduate programs of study, including teacher education and
certification; educational policy, leadership, and technology;
international education; school counseling; and arts education.

administrators whose practice is informed by deep understanding

Our 12-month teacher education programs are specially designed
for recent college graduates and career changers, as well as
private and independent school teachers who want to become
initially certified. The Department of Teaching and Learning
offers seven top-ranked, full-time master's degree program
options, all of which provide the supportive learning community
you need to succeed as a teacher. Shadow and collaborate with
master educators through guided classroom experiences in host
schools. Small classes, urban focus, generous scholarships.
Programs begin each June, preparing you to become a teacher in
time for the following fall.

Educational Communication and Technology (M.A., Ph.D.) —
develop expertise in the design of technology-based, multimedia
programs and environments that are educational in nature. Work in
K-12 schools and higher education; visual arts and natural
history museums, science centers, children's museums, historical
societies and other public cultural spaces; corporate workplace
training and adult e-learning programs; and private and
non-profit educational media design companies, Web organizations,
and television networks and cable stations.

NYU Steinhardt's Department of Applied Psychology is actively
involved in applied research in urban communities, with
particular emphasis on improving the educational and
psychological functioning of individuals and families throughout
the life span. Each program includes a strong foundation in
psychological science and extensive fieldwork experience.

Applied Psychology (B.S.) - develop a comprehensive
knowledge of the theory and practice of psychology with an
emphasis on the contexts that influence the behavior and
development of children, adolescents, adults, parents, and
families.

Counseling and Guidance (M.A.) with concentrations in
School Counseling or Bilingual School Counseling — work
as a school (guidance) counselor in grades K to 12.

Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness (M.A.) -
become professionally licensed to provide a full range of
counseling services for individuals, couples, families, groups,
children, adolescents, and adults with a variety of emotional
dysfunctions and disorders.

qualified, licensed psychologist with specialized training in
counseling.
